Mercer Place, and How to Shop Resale

Just about every ‘boutique‘ that I have ever entered has been adorned with cashmere throw pillows and grand chandeliers. In other words, every hair pin has been adorned with Swarovski crystals and has a price tag to match the consonants in Swarovksi (ritzy-ritzy); but there is hope for those of us that love the high end goods but have a minuscule budget.

A fantastic ‘resale boutique’ I have stumbled upon is Mercer Place in Denver, Colorado, yes such a place exists. I spent about an hour browsing around and fell in love with their dress and shoe selection, among the selections were purple satin Christian Louboutins and Calvin Klein evening dresses; no joke!

The cherry on top of the cake of this establishment are the handy brochures at the checkout counter. My favorite brochure, ‘Resale Shopping Guide’ has everything you need to know on how to shop resale, and it reads:

* Shop oftern (new items daily).

* Check for defects-most items are not returnable. Shop owners try to look over incoming items carefully but may miss something.

* Visit other resale shops-all shops are different.

* Always check a size smaller and larger than you normally wear (brands run differently).

* Ask about a return policy.

* If you like it, buy it, it may not be there when you come back for it.

Mercer Place is located on Antique Row in South Denver, and there are very many places that I still need to visit on that side of town.
